From Product Description:

Whether it's exhilarating historical romance or spine-tingling contemporary suspense, #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood weaves magnificent stories of passion, adventure, and intrigue. Now she raises the heat and spices up the action with a sexy, smart, daring new heroine and a smoldering thriller that's classic Garwood—and pure Sizzle.

Lyra Prescott, a Los Angeles film student, is closing in on graduation and facing important decisions about her future. She's already been offered a job at her hometown TV station, an opportunity that could ultimately launch her dream career as a film editor. But heading back home would also mean dealing with her overprotective brothers, social-climbing mother, and eccentric grandmother. Unsure of her future, Lyra dives into work on her final school assignment: a documentary transformed by a twist of fate into a real-life horror film.

After she unwittingly captures a shocking crime on camera, a rash of mysterious, treacherous incidents convince Lyra that she's trapped in a sinister scenario headed for a violent ending. Running scared, she turns to her best friend, Sidney Buchanan, whose connections bring dauntless and devilishly handsome FBI agent Sam Kincaid into Lyra's life. As the noose of deadly intrigue tightens and the feelings between them deepen, Lyra and Sam must place their faith in each other's hands—and stand together against the malevolent forces about to break loose.

No one mixes life-and-death suspense with feverish desire better than Julie Garwood. In Sizzle she burns hotter and brighter than ever, keeping the action and passion blazing till the incredible, unforgettable end.

Disappointing.

I enjoyed most of the Buchanan books but this one was a major letdown. There was no buildup of suspense. The characters were flat and boring. I did not see any romance develop. One minute they're lusting after each other and the next they are supposedly in love. I felt more like I was told that they were in love, rather than seeing them fall in love.

Sizzle - Fun & Easy Summer Read

07/28/2010

Until searching around on goodreads, I had no idea that romantic suspense was a genre. Well apparently I have been woefully ignorant as this genre is often on best seller lists!

Sizzle was a fun and easy read. Garwood writes interesting characters and the dialogue was quite good. There is a hapless assassin who is a great source of humor. However, I have no idea why this book is entitled Sizzle. The cover art isn't indicative of the tale's contents at all. Perhaps it refers to the romantic chemistry? In my opinion this book was primarily a romance, contrary to the way the suspense was marketed in the book's description. The suspense was written around the romantic intrigues. Sizzle is a nice escapist read - perfect for the summer. True mystery lovers may not appreciate this story, but it will be a popular choice for many readers.

Sizzle doesn't fizzle...

I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it! I haven't read any of Julie Garwood's other work but I plan too. Garwood does a great job developing a female main character, Lyra who is a strong independent woman. The chemistry as described by Garwood between Lyra and her love interest is palpable. Sizzle's plot moves at nice pace although the ending seemed a little rushed. Don't miss understand me this is not a keep you awake at night mystery but it was a fun read with a slight twist.

Awesome Seller

The product was in better shape than stated and arrived early. I would definitely recommend this seller to others and would use them again.

Uninspired

It's the first (and last) Garwood I've read--on the recommendation of several fans. What tripe. There was nothing about this book that I found compelling. The characters, except for the bad guys, were flat and uninteresting. The style was boringly linear--lots of telling, not showing. And the proof reader must have flunked English 1A-- "who's" instead of "whose", among other glaring errors. Sensory details were non-existent; the sex scenes were so dull, I'd have opted for a short nap had I been either of the participants. Finally, what plot? I had the predictable story line worked out by the end of the first chapter. As for reading Garwood when a new Evanovich isn't available, NOT!
